Lymphatic massage is a gentle massage technique focused on lymphatic system of the body in order to support circulation of lymph. The lymphatic circulation, unlike blood circulation, has not its pump. Lymphatic massage is done by hand with gentle pressure and it only affects the skin and subcutaneous tissue. Originally, it was done without the use of oils or emulsions. Lymphatic massage stimulates the function of lymphatic vessels, restores passage of the lymph in the lymphatic glands and helps to accelerate the filtration of the lymph and blood and evacuation of toxins. Such cleaning reflects at the physical level as well as in the mental state. Manual lymphatic drainage has a deep sedative, analgesic and spasmolytic effect (elimination of tension and pain) on the blood and lymphatic circulation.
An excessive amount of toxins in the lymphatic system, stress, or damage of the lymphatic vessels caused by an accident, surgery, infection etc. is manifested by fatigue, reduced ability to face stress, infectious and other diseases, swelling of legs, especially in the area of ankles, swelling of the abdomen or face, lymphedema, swelling of lymph nodes and overall weakening of the immune system.
With manual lymphatic drainage the following parts of the body can be treated: face, neck, chest, abdomen, arms and legs; masseur / masseuse adapts the course and composition of the lymphatic massage to the current needs and state of health of the client.
